Soft Power: The Strength That Doesn’t Scream
Hey,
Let’s skip the polished intro and get right to it:
I’m tired of pretending that power has to be loud, forceful, or performative.
It doesn’t.
The older I get, the more I crave something different.
I want power that feels like exhaling.
I want power that moves like water—fluid, clear, unbothered.
I want the kind of power that doesn’t need to explain itself.
So this month, I’m giving my energy to soft power.
Not weakness. Not fragility.
But the kind of power that trusts its own rhythm. That chooses presence over performance.
I’ll be honest…
I still catch myself thinking I need to hustle to be valid.
To prove I’m working.
To keep up.
To stay relevant.
To show the world I’m still doing something.
But that’s not real power. That’s fear dressed up in productivity.
Soft power doesn’t need the world’s permission.
It doesn’t beg to be seen.
It doesn’t chase.
It moves from truth.
It pauses on purpose.
It listens longer.
It says no without guilt.
And yes without urgency.
Let me tell you what soft power looks like in real life:
Getting quiet before responding
Choosing not to prove yourself in every conversation
Walking away instead of engaging in chaos
Trusting that the people meant for you will stay
Letting your body lead
Slowing way down when the world tells you to speed up
It’s not glamorous.
It doesn’t always get you applause.
But it feels like freedom.
If you’ve been needing to hear this…
You don’t need to push harder.
You don’t need to earn your rest.
You don’t need to keep justifying the way you take care of yourself.
You’re allowed to be powerful and soft.
You’re allowed to take up space quietly.
You’re allowed to lead without shouting.
Soft power isn’t about shrinking.
It’s about expanding inward—until your energy speaks for itself.
I’ll be exploring more of this all month.
What it means in relationships, in leadership, in healing, in saying no, in choosing yourself over and over again.
More soon.
In the quiet fire,
Dee
